On Our Mind: Thank you

As this will be our final issue of the year for The Bulletin, we would like to take time to thank the readers of our publication for their suggestions, comments (both positive and negative), phone forums, online comments, letters to the editor, and, of course, for your readership.

The Bulletin has gone through several changes since August, some of them bad and some of them good. Yet, the one thing that hasn’t changed since August, is the amount of feedback we have received from students, faculty, alumni, and the general public. We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all who have made their opinion know. Without your suggestions, praises, and complaints, we would not be able to shape the paper into what you want.

To those who supported us throughout the year, we are extremely grateful for your kind words and your support of our mission as the students’ voice. You have no idea how many times your positive feedback has saved the self esteem and personal feelings of members of our staff and kept us going throughout the year.

Yet, we also would like to take time to thank those who have provided complaints or suggestions on how we may improve. It is because of your comments and ideas that we know what we’re doing wrong and ways to improve our work. Your comments may have stung at first, but it is also your comments that help us grow as student journalists and prepare us for the professional journalism world.

A big thank you also goes out to those students who have utilized the phone forum feature throughout the year. There were a few times during the year that we considered removing the phone forums due to lack of use. However, our considerations were always turned around when we saw that you really did want the phone forum to remain a part of The Bulletin.

Finally, we would like to thank the many, many online readers who have utilized the comments feature on our Web site. Traffic to esubulletin.com has never been higher and the additional information readers post can really add information and clarity to our pieces. It also provides instant feedback on stories in many instances, which helps us in producing future issues.

So thank you again for sticking with us through this year of change and for your feedback. We will be back again in August and hope to hear from you again.
