The window on the east side of the old National Teachers Hall of Fame building on west campus is broken and needs repaired.

Resident of Chi Omega Sorority reported a male Asian subject had been vomiting in the sorority parking lot but had left the area. Officers responded to check welfare and also check vehicles. Officers made no contact with subject and no problems were found with the vehicles.

Jan. 22

Emporia Police Dept. reported a domestic disturbance – verbal – at ESU Apt.

D-41 1201 Triplett Dr. Victim was uncooperative with officer.

Resident of ESU Apt. Complex reported hearing loud voices and breakage in the apartment underneath. Officer was unable to make contact with anyone in either of the two apartments under the reporting party.

Power House Operator reported temperatures in Butcher Education Center Rooms 112 and 113 were reading high. Officers found no problems in either room.  Temperature in Room 111 was high. Officers raised windows to allow the room to cool off.

Instructor reported a female student fainted at Visser Hall Room 327. Officer escorted subject to Student Health Center.

Nov. 15

A female student requested to speak with an officer in Sector 1. Subject reported her vehicle missing. Officer provided escort from Sector 1 to Sector 3. Subject had forgotten where she had parked her vehicle.

Emporia Police Dept. requested assistance with a parking problem at 1217 Neosho St. KS 631DNQ was moved so it did not block a driveway.

Resident of ESU Apt. A-11 reported a strange smell in their apartment.  Officer could not identify odor.

The Bulletin has not received any police reports from campus Police and Safety since Oct. 30. TCS has recently migrated Police and Safety’s email accounts to a new system, and The Bulletin’s email address was lost in the move, according to Chris Hoover, captain of campus police. Hoover said TCS is working to resolve the issue.

Officer assisted Animal Control with an injured dog that was struck by a vehicle at 15th and Market Street.

Handicap doors stuck open in entrance to Student Recreation Center.  Officer shut off power to doors. Campus maintenance has been notified and they will repair the problem.

The handicapped door on the southeast side of Beach Music Hall is hard to close completely and could probably use an adjustment to close easier.

Officer stopped KS 969DVK at 11th and Merchant Street.  Verbal warning was issued for driving with no headlights. Citation was given for driving without a valid license.  Vehicle was legally parked and occupants walked to their residence.

Resident of Singular Hall 1st floor reported two students arguing loudly in the hallway. Subjects left prior to officer’s arrival. Officer and Kim Christian made contact with one of students involved. Case pending.

Resident Assistant reported the smell of natural gas near the northeast exit of Northeast Morse Hall. Officer did not detect any odor. Checked with the Power House operator and he reported no problem with natural gas supply on campus.

October 11

Caleb Neeley requested to speak with an officer in reference to a possible stolen vehicle registration that occurred off campus. Case referred to the Emporia Police Dept.

Officer contacted subjects in Northeast Morse Hall Room 12 who were yelling profanities at a passing motorist and advised to stop.

September 25

Officer attempted to stop KS 582DVK for driving off roadway and a one-way violation in 1200 Market St., and a car chase through central Emporia ensued, ending with the operator crashing the vehicle at Copley and State. Operator was taken into custody for multiple traffic violations and transported by Emporia Police Dept. to Lyon Co. jail.

Twin Towers Complex Staff Assistant reported a female resident with an ankle injury in North Twin Towers Room 207. Subject was taken by ambulance to Newman Regional Health.

Officer found several CD’s labeled as property of ESU beside a garbage bin at ESU Apt. building ‘F’.  Items were brought to ESU PD HQ for storage.

Officer assisted Emporia Police Dept. with a call in the vicinity of 12th and Sylvan.

September 15

Officer assisted Emporia Police Dept. with a call in 100 Peyton.

Officer stopped KS 632CFB in 1100 Exchange. Verbal warning was issued for speeding in 100 E 12th.

Officer stopped KS 421AWA in 10 E 1th. Verbal warning was issued for driving with no headlights in 100 E 12th.

Officer stopped KS 436DBG at 13th and Merchant. Verbal warning was issued for unauthorized lights. Citation issued for no POI.           

September 16

Female student reported telephone harassment.  A message was left on her answering machine.

Officer stopped KS 000DVL at 100 W 13th. Citation was issued for failure to stop at red light at 12th Merchant.

September 17

Officer admitted City of Emporia Sanitation workers into the compound.

Officer was dispatched to a lock out at 909 Constitution St.  Operator was not a current student.  Officer did not unlock vehicle.

Officer stopped KS 115BOE at 12th and Commercial. Verbal warning was issued for no seatbelt at 12th and Market.

Officer stopped KS VWU783 at 12th and Cottonwood. Verbal warning was issued for a one-way violation at 1201 Triplet Dr.

Officer stopped KS 646CQX at 1800 Highland. Verbal warning was issued for driving with no headlights in 1800 Highland.

Officer stopped KS 965DVK at 1200 Neosho. Citation was issued for defective tail light at 12th and Commercial.

Officer stopped MN 532BDG at 18th and State. Verbal warning was issued for failure to dim headlights at 19th and Merchant.

Officer assisted Emporia Police Dept. with a domestic disturbance and drunk driver investigation at 18th and Industrial Rd.

Mark Runge notified ESU PD of a roof leak found in HPER.

September 18

Ambulance responded to Singular Hall Room 258 for a female student suffering a seizure.  Subject refused transport.

September 19

A female student reported graffiti on the sign south of Memorial Union between Plumb Hall and King Hall. Officer contacted physical plant to clean off sign.

Residential Life reported a suspicious odor on the 2nd floor of Abigail Morse Hall.

Officer stopped a bicyclist in Sector 3. Verbal warning was issued for a one-way violation.

Officer retrieved keys that had been accidently dropped down the right elevator shaft in South Twin Towers.

Abigail Morse Hall zone 185 Smoke Detector 2nd floor. Unknown problem.

September 20

Officer responded to HPER building Room 205 for a male student who had passed out. Subject was transported to the Student Health Center by officer.

Resident of 2nd floor Singular Hall reported an opossum in her room eating her Cheezits.  Officer captured the animal and released it north of I-35.

Officer assisted Lyon Co. Sheriff’s Dept. with road hazard in 1800 No. Hwy 99. Two five-gallon buckets of animal feed were in the roadway. Officer moved them off to the shoulder.
