Emporia State’s Prophet Aquatic Research and Outreach Center (PAROC) partnered with various local organizations including David Traylor Zoo to host Party for the Planet on April 23. The first part of the event was held at the PAROC and included multiple hands-on booths inside and outside the building that gave community members a chance to “connect with the environment,” according to Daphne Mays, PAROC outreach and engagement coordinator. The second part was scheduled to happen at the David Traylor Zoo but was moved to the Sauder Alumni Center due to expected inclement weather. Elexa Dawson, Sapphire Son and Sam and the Firewatchers performed live and guests could trade a plant for a new one at the door.
