Granada Theatre opens doors after long awaited renovations
The Granada Theatre reopened last Friday, exactly 79 years after it first opened. The reopening began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Later that evening, a gala was hosted for all that had donated to the renovations.
“What a great thing to build Emporia’s future on,” said Richard Garber, board chairman of the chamber of commerce, at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. “If this isn’t building futures, I don’t know what is.”
The executive director of the Granada is a May 2008 graduate of Emporia State with a degree in business administration.
“It’s been an awesome project for me after just graduating from college, getting (this kind of) experience,” said Doug Ford, executive director.
