During the Council of Faculty Senate Presidents meeting they discussed the consenting relationship policy deadline for the Kansas Board of Regents. They also passed a motion to propose required accessibility for meetings.

The hard deadline for the consenting relationships policy is Dec. 1, but the Faculty Senate Presidents proposed to have them submitted to Cliff Morris, president of Faculty Senate at Pittsburg State and chair of the Faculty Senate Presidents, by Nov. 28.

Morris will then compile them and have them sent to KBOR by Nov. 30.

“What I would do is just send an email with the attached documents,” Morris said. “I would turn this in by that Friday, Nov. 30...I’ll get those to Topeka by (then).”

They also passed a motion to draft an accessibility proposal for during KBOR meetings.

“I would like us to request to the board staff and/or the board of regents that increased accessibility of the KBOR meetings, i.e. hearing,” said Betty Smith-Campbell, president of Faculty Senate at Wichita State. “You come to these meetings and if I’m not sitting right next to you (then I can’t hear you).”

No one opposed the motion and it was adopted.

“I’m not exactly sure what it’ll look like, but a formal request will be made out of the council Faculty Senate presidents to someone that we have a sound system or something,” Morris said.
