Sodexo opened its newest dining venue at Emporia State, ‘Slice of Life’ Jan. 16.

During the grand opening event, Kelly Stringer, unit marketing coordinator for Sodexo, handed out promotional material including free samples and a wheel where students could spin to win free food or a raffle entry for a free pizza.

“I thought their sandwich samples were actually pretty tasty,” said Jailene Mendoza, sophomore psychology major. “I usually eat on campus between my classes, about two to three times a week.”

Slice of Life is a “retail dining option including: pizza, sub sandwiches, salad, bread sticks and fountain beverages” according to the memorial union’s website.

“I’m excited to see this where you can get salads and a couple slices. I like having these other options on campus.” Said Julie Cayton, assistant director of TRIO.

Slice of Life is open Monday-Thursday 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Friday 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. according to the memorial union website.

“I like eating on campus,” said Brenna Bigge, freshman and art education major “It is more convenient since I don’t have to make my own food and do my own dishes.”
