Carey McLeod sets new long jump record for Emporia State

Carey McLeod, Emporia State’s first NCAA Field Athlete of the Week, MIAA Athlete of the Week and freshman jumper, practices Monday in a HPER gym. At his first meet as a Hornet, McLeod jumped over 25 feet in long jump at the UCM Invitational, setting a new record for Emporia State after 26 years and automatically qualifying for championships. The men’s team placed second at the Jan. 18 meet.
