The Emporia State football team ended their season with a 35-28 win Nov. 10 against the University of Central Oklahoma. This win makes the Hornet’s eligible for the Corsicana Bowl.
Braxton Marstall, senior quarterback, said they’re looking forward in getting to play one more game.
“I am excited to be playing in a bowl game and getting one more game for the seniors,” Marstall said.
The Hornets went 7-4 for their season. They played in five home games that went 2-3 and six away games that went 5-1.
“This season overall has been full of ups and downs, but I think we came together as a team and played really well,” Marstall said.
One of the major losses was against Northwest Missouri State. The Hornets fell 0-41 Sept. 29.
“The (Northwest Missouri State) game didn’t come out as we wanted it to, we made too many mental mistakes and that really cost us,” said Tyler Harris, senior wide receiver.
Their best win was against Fort Hays, according to Jace McDown, sophomore linebacker.
“They’re a playoff team and the defending MIAA champs,” McDown said. “They were the team we beat that got this thing rolling a little bit. It lifted us all up and gave us a lot of momentum for the rest of the year.”
The Corsicana Bowl will take place at 2 p.m. Dec. 1 at the University of Arkansas at Monticello in Corsicana, Texas.
