STAND Meeting

The Emporia State chapter of STAND: A Student Anti-Genocide Coalition will have its second to last meeting of the semester from 5:30-6:30 tonight in the Xi Phi Room of the Memorial Union.

Topics up for discussion include fundraising ideas, updates on the conditions in Darfur and Genocide Awareness Month, which is April.

For Genocide Awareness Month, STAND will show a movie called “Darfur: Now” at 7:30 p.m. April 15 in Science Hall 72.

Saudi Club Playstation Soccer Tournament

Saudi Club will host a Playstation Soccer Tournament from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the Hornet’s Nest. The games will be shown on projectors using Playstation 3.

In order to play, students must register from noon until 2 p.m. today at a booth on the Memorial Union Main Street. The first 32 players to sign up will be entered into the tournament.
Prizes include $75 gift card for first place, a $50 gift card for second place and a $25 gift card for third place. The tournament is sponsored by Rent-To-Own Center and Memorial Union Programs.

Faculty Research Forum

The 25th Annual Faculty Research Forum will be from 1:30-3 p.m. Wednesday in the Memorial Union Ballroom. It is hosted by Graduate Studies and Research. Exhibits will feature research from the fields of biology, physical science, social science, humanities and psychology, among others.

There are 28 poster exhibits that will be available for viewing. An awards ceremony will be from 3:15- 4 p.m., including poster awards, the President’s Award and graduate student awards. There will also be a drawing for prizes for those who submitted entries, including three $350 prizes for students and three professional development fund prizes of $500 for faculty.

Pam Fillmore, grants manager at the Research and Grants Center, said that they would like to see more students come to the forum and look at the exhibits and that refreshments will be provided.
